The Chain Breakers Project was born from pain, perseverance, and purpose. Founded over a decade ago by Sister Dearest Price; a minister, teacher, and devoted mother of two, the project began as a quiet act of faith during a turbulent time. With her husband incarcerated, Sister Dearest stood in the storm with unwavering loyalty, supporting him throughout his bid.
As her husband neared release, she focused her energy on helping him reenter society, only for the marriage to abruptly and cruelly end. He not only walked away but attempted to tarnish her name, leaving her emotionally and spiritually devastated. But Sister Dearest didn’t break, she broke chains.
She began preaching in local jails, but soon realized her words alone were not enough. So she leaned into her greatest strength outside of God; education. She designed a relevant, transformative curriculum that gave incarcerated individuals structure, dignity, and purpose. When she proposed it to schools, jails, and colleges, she was met with silence and institutional resistance. But she didn’t stop there.
She expanded her work beyond correctional facilities—offering tutoring, instruction, and mentorship to local churches and underserved communities. In reflecting on her own story, she recognized the emotional abuse she had endured and began crafting curriculum for domestic violence agencies, substance abuse centers, and high schools. Her mission was clear: no more idle minds, no more forgotten souls.
As a mother, she saw her brilliant, neurodivergent son and built programming that included and honored minds like his. With the faithful support of her daughter, the vision of Chain Breakers grew into a movement—teaching, healing, and restoring lives with love, structure, and empathy.
What could have made her bitter, made her better.
Today, Sister Dearest Price teaches, still breaking chains and building futures—one lesson, one soul, one breakthrough at a time.
Now, the Chain Breakers Project is in search of a larger space to grow this mission—a place where hearts are healed, minds are sharpened, and lives are changed. The chains may be heavy, but with every student, every lesson, and every act of love, they are breaking, for good.
